Our “raison d’être”
Social Impact
Since 1994, The Government of Rwanda has improved the legal framework to enhance women’s rights.
However, according to the Rwanda’s Demographic and Health Survey report published by the National Institute of Statistics (2019/20); 37% of women and girls who are aged between 15-49, had experienced physical or sexual, or psychological violence. The consequences of which include high school dropout rate for girls of school – going age, lack of self-confidence and the inability of women to fully engage in the social and economic development of their communities. Ultimately, this contributes to growing gender inequality on a national level.
